Henoke Seyuome’s Quest to Promote Ethiopian Culture and Tourism
Henoke Seyuome, fondly referred to as “the wandering scribe,” is an extraordinary individual whose existence is intricately woven with an unswerving love for the art of narrative and the thrill of discovery. His journey began in the lively neighborhood of Zenebework in Addis Ababa, where he was born in October 1982, and it was within this vibrant community that his character and values were shaped under the nurturing guidance of his parents, who instilled in him a profound sense of duty and purpose.


He embarked on his educational odyssey at Lielt Zenebework School, where he cultivated the bedrock of his primary education. Continuing his quest for knowledge, he then ventured to Ayer Tena High School, where he embarked on a captivating voyage that broadened the horizons of his intellect and enriched his academic pursuits.


Passionate about media and communication, Henoke established a company focused on tourism, where he directed the institution’s media activities as a manager since 2010. Over the course of 11 years, he dedicated himself to promoting Ethiopian culture and tourism through various endeavors. As the managing editor, he played an integral role in the publication of the Amharic-language “Tuba” magazine, which showcased the beauty and wonders of Ethiopia.
His love for travel led him to create a weekly TV program called “Travel Ethiopia,” which captivated audiences on JTV, ENN, and Fana television stations. Currently, he curates and presents the popular show “Travel Ethiopia” on NBC Ethiopia, taking viewers on captivating journeys across the country.
Beyond television, Henoke is a versatile writer, contributing freelance tour reports to various digital media platforms. He is particularly recognized for his immersive travel accounts, capturing the essence of Ethiopia’s diverse landscapes and cultural heritage. His insightful columns have graced the pages of renowned publications, including Fith and Woy Addis Ababa magazines.
His dedication to promoting Ethiopian tourism knows no bounds. He has authored and published numerous publications, including the tourism directories of Gondar City, South Gondar Zone, and North Shewa Zone in both Amharic and English languages. Additionally, he has produced works on Ethiopian nature and parks, Ethiopian museums, and an Ethiopian festival directory in Amharic.
Henoke Seyuome is a travel writer and author. He has published his works in the books “Abol” and “Debo” together with other authors.
He has also published his widely read and frequently published works “Yemenged Bereket”, “Gondern Filega”, “Hageren”, “Wed Ethiopia Sewoch” and “Menged yenu Yifeses” to readers.
Henoke actively engages in various professional associations, assuming notable roles within the Ethiopian Journalists Association, the Ethiopian Tourism and Culture Journalists Association, and serving as the President of the Tana Award Board. Moreover, his invaluable expertise extends to his position as a board member of the Ethiopian Justice System Center, where he contributes his insights to the pursuit of justice and fairness.
His remarkable contributions to the field of tourism journalism have earned him prestigious accolades, including the MICE Tourism Hotel Show Africa Best Tourism Journalism Award, the highly coveted TANA Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions, the distinguished National Green Award in the Print Category, and Role Model Award for his commendable efforts in heritage promotion.Visit Amhara Tourism Award, visit Oromia Tourism Award,Gedio Deraro Award, Bego Sew Award,
Awarded by A.A.H.T.P.A for Excellence in Adventure & Wildlife Tourism Journalism Furthermore, his noteworthy dedication to the advancement of the tourism sector has been acknowledged and celebrated by the Ministry of Tourism through various distinguished awards.
Henoke is currently the ambassador for Gofa Zone Tourism and Gulele Botanical Garden.
