This was announced during a launch event held following a ceramic product distribution agreement signed on Yekatit 27, 2018 E.C., between Ethioder PLC, which obtained a “Golden Tier Level” distributor status, and Bajay Ceramic Manufacturing Industry (Tulefa Ceramic).
The event took place on April 18 2026, at Loft Apartment Hotel in the presence of distinguished guests. Senior executives of both organizations, industry professionals, invited guests, and media representatives attended the ceremony, where company leaders delivered speeches.
It was stated during the event that the agreement will play a significant role in supporting Ethiopia’s construction sector and improving access to high-quality interior finishing products for customers.
It was also highlighted that as construction activities continue to expand across the country, the government’s focus on the sector—particularly on promoting locally manufactured products—serves as an effective way to save foreign currency.
According to the statement, the high-quality Bajay ceramic products (Tulefa Ceramics), produced locally in Ethiopia, will be distributed to the market through Ethioder’s extensive distribution network.
This bilateral partnership is expected to play a major role in promoting local production, conserving foreign currency, and reducing construction input costs.
On the same day, agreements were also signed with initial users of the products—construction project owners—as well as with primary and secondary distributo8rs.
It was noted during the ceremony that producing construction inputs locally and selling them domestically will help fill the growing gap in the country’s construction sector.
The Bajay factory, located in a place called Tulefa, 65 km from Addis Ababa, was built with an investment exceeding 50 million USD and has the capacity to produce 14 million square meters of ceramic products annually.
This makes it the largest ceramic manufacturing company in Ethiopia. At the start of its operations, the factory is expected to meet 20% of the country’s annual ceramic demand, and once fully operational, it is projected to cover up to 70% of demand.
It will also significantly reduce the large amount of foreign currency spent on importing ceramic products.
Moreover, it will play a key role in supporting the government’s “Ethiopia Produces” initiative aimed at expanding local production.
A representative of Bajay Ceramic Manufacturing stated that this collaboration will establish a strong foundation for supplying internationally standardized products that meet Ethiopia’s growing demand.
Ethioder PLC has been serving as the sole agent and distributor in Ethiopia for American Kohler bathroom products and Serbian Peštan pipes for the past seven years.
In the logistics sector, the company has extensive experience providing comprehensive services to foreign companies operating in mining, petroleum, agriculture, and other sectors in Ethiopia.
Ethioder PLC is also working to support Ethiopia’s transition to green energy and sustainable transportation by introducing electric vehicles suitable for Ethiopian roads.
It was also learned that the event organization and media coordination were handled by Tewedaje Media and Communication (Ezra Ejigu).
