A Partnership to Bring Ethiopia’s Real Estate Potential to the Diaspora
Akoya Properties, which focuses on quality construction, modern design, and customer-oriented service, has announced that it is preparing to participate as the main sponsor of the 2026 DC & Toronto Diaspora Expo.
The official signing ceremony for the partnership was held on Pagume 4, 2018 E.C., at Akoya Properties’ headquarters. The event was attended by Akoya Properties’ CEO and management team, Expo brand ambassador TikToker Adonay Berhane, senior executives of Nib International Bank, invited guests, and members of the media.
The partnership is expected to create an opportunity and platform for Akoya Properties to promote its real estate projects to the Ethiopian diaspora living abroad.
Interest-Free Financing Options
In addition, under its cooperation agreement with Nib International Bank, Akoya Properties has announced that it will offer extended, interest-free payment options to buyers of residential homes and commercial shops.
A special purchase and financing option has also been arranged specifically for diaspora customers. At the event, Mr. Erstu Kemal, Head of Interest-Free Banking Services at Nib International Bank, explained the financing option.
According to Mr. Erstu, diaspora customers can pay just 15% of the property price as a down payment, while the remaining 85% can be paid through the bank under an extended payment arrangement.
This extended, interest-free financing option is intended to make it easier and more affordable for customers, particularly members of the diaspora, to purchase the residential homes or commercial shops they want.
The partnership is also expected to facilitate Akoya Properties customers’ property payments through the partner bank, helping to strengthen business ties between the two institutions.
Beyond promoting real estate products, the partnership is intended to create a stronger platform connecting diaspora capital, investment interest, and business partnerships in Ethiopia.

In addition to the Diaspora Expo, Akoya Properties is reportedly holding a real estate expo at its office located at Nile Source, Bole, near the Japanese Embassy, from September 5–9, 2019 E.C.
Adonay Berhane’s Remarks
Akoya Properties brand ambassador TikToker Adonay Berhane said during the press briefing that saving money and acquiring property back home is an important goal for Ethiopians living abroad.
He expressed his belief that, by taking advantage of this opportunity, diaspora customers would purchase homes from the trusted Akoya Properties.
