The full-length theatre production titled “Wond” (Man), subtitled “One Man, Many Women,” is set to be staged for public viewing.

The satirical full-length theatre work, written by journalist and author Wubalem Tesfaye Siyum and performed on stage by Genet Tesfaye Abebe, will soon be presented to audiences, it has been learned.
Speaking to Tewedaje Media, the playwright and producer Wubalem Tesfaye Siyoum stated that the new one-person theatre piece is grounded in women’s subtle identity, extraordinary nature, and strong humanity. Conveying truth and arguing through reason, the performance will have a running time of up to one and a half hours.
Carrying the guiding theme “If you want to be a man, first be a woman,” this one-person play is centered on honoring resilient, great mothers and women, with a core focus on safeguarding their rights and freedoms.

The one-person performance is delivered by the popular artist Genet Tesfaye Abebe, who is well known for her work in film and theatre. She has also appeared as an actress in the EBS Television serial sitcom Demb 5. In addition, she has demonstrated her acting ability in films such as Tinbit, Chuhit, Fenji Wereda, Chebelew, Damotra, Endalsimish, Guramayle, Zenenyawa, Serachilign, and Emandana Wefefew Fikir. She has also appeared before audiences in theatre productions including Tikurwa Mona Lisa, YeHilina Sikelat, and Mestefaqir. Moreover, she has acted in the television drama series Yegna.

The playwright, Wubalem Tesfaye, graduated with a degree from Dilla University in 2000 E.C. After graduation, he served for one year as a teacher at Addis Ababa Repi Secondary School.
Following his teaching career, he joined Radio Fana as a journalist. Since 2002 E.C., he has been working in journalism for the past 16 years and continues to do so to this day.

Known for his nationally themed and bold poetic works, Wubalem Tesfaye is the editor of the recently published book “YeBirhan A’emd” (Pillars of Light). He has also written works titled “Prime Minister Ajokebs” and “Tamang Kahadiwoch” (Loyal Traitors).
The playwright has also announced that the script of this new theatre work “Wond”, written by Wubalem Tesfaye Siyum, has received feedback and evaluation from literary professionals.

Tewedaje  Media is currently promoting this theatre production on social media platforms and handling its public relations work, a professional responsibility entrusted to it by the playwright himself.
