Addis Africa Real Estate Exhibition Held

Ethiopia is currently hosting its first East African regional conference along with a real estate exhibition dubbed “Addis Africa.”

This real estate exhibition, called “Addis Africa,” is working toward making the capital a hub for real estate investment in Africa. The exhibition, which runs for four days until April 26, 2026 (G.C.), starting today, has brought together Ethiopian real estate developers, construction material manufacturers, banks and financial institutions, and invited guests.
The guest of honor and opening speaker, State Minister of Urban Development and Infrastructure, H.E. W/o Helen Debebe, stated that such exhibitions serve as platforms that not only ensure Ethiopia’s sustainable growth but also stimulate activity in the sector.

She added that hosting these two major events together presents a great opportunity to energize the sector.

The President of the Ethiopian Real Estate Developers Association, Mr. Alemayehu Ketema, noted that organizing this exhibition within a short period since the association’s establishment is a significant achievement and said it will continue annually.
The East African regional conference mainly focuses on strengthening economic ties, trade exchange, and policy agreements among countries in the region. Meanwhile, the Addis Africa Real Estate Exhibition serves as a platform that brings together housing development technologies, investment options, and key sector stakeholders under one roof.

Mr. Alemayehu Ketema further explained that beyond protecting the rights of its members, the Ethiopian Real Estate Association is implementing its own monitoring and professional code of conduct to ensure customers receive quality homes in accordance with proper contracts. He also highlighted that the association’s establishment addresses operational gaps in the sector and helps build trust between developers and homebuyers.
Since only developers who are members of the Ethiopian Real Estate Association are participating in the exhibition, it creates an opportunity for customers to engage exclusively with legally recognized and certified companies.
The participation of banks and financial institutions is expected to create favorable conditions for home seekers to access better loan and payment options.
The conference also aims to promote conference tourism and showcase Ethiopia’s positive image globally by enabling visitors to explore new tourist attractions and corridor development achievements, with the expectation of positioning Addis Ababa as a real estate investment hub.

The exhibition officially opened today, Thursday April 2018 (E.C.), and tomorrow, Friday, Miazia 16, 2018 (E.C.), the Ethiopian Real Estate Association will hold its general assembly at Elilly Hotel.
Stakeholders in the real estate sector stated that the exhibition and conference will not only enhance networking within the industry but also help promote the country’s image.

They added that experience sharing among participants will allow for learning from long-established, systematic practices.

Countries like Kenya and Nigeria have long-standing regulatory frameworks guided by consistent policies in the sector, whereas Ethiopia has only recently introduced real estate laws.
The exhibition will conclude on Miazia 18, 2018 (E.C.), alongside the East African regional conference.
The event is organized by the Ethiopian Real Estate Developers Association in collaboration with Doksa Events, while media coordination is handled by tewedaje media and Communication (Ezra Ejigu).
