A new documentary titled “ICC: Universal Justice Without Universality” premiered today, February 13, 2026 (Yekatit 6, 2018 E.C.), at the Tulip Olympia Hotel,addis ababa alongside the 39th African Union Heads of State and Government Summit currently taking place in Addis Ababa.
The documentary was produced by renowned Pan-Africanist filmmaker Bakary Kanté, a Guinean national who resides in France.
Presented by Genesis Entertainment, the film examines the operations, credibility, and questions of fairness surrounding the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Bakary Kanté has over 20 years of experience in cinematography and spent two years producing the film.
The documentary features interviews with experts from various African countries regarding the workings of the ICC and provides valuable insights for anyone seeking information on the issue.
It was attended by African Union officials and other guests concerned with Pan-African affairs at its screening.
The 30-minute documentary includes in-depth analyses, particularly focusing on the relationship between the courts and African countries, as well as the gap between the principle and practice of what is termed “universal justice.”
The premiere event of the documentary was coordinated in collaboration with fellow Africans by the tewedaje media and communications figure Ezra Ejigu, while journalist Tibebu Belete played a major role in ensuring the success of the event.
